Winter Picnic Lunch

Hot Dogs ‘n’ Blankets + Fixed Up Baked Beans + Celery with Attitude

Betty Crocker suggested this easy way to wrap hot dogs in their own bread by using Bisquick. Putting your hands right in dough is such a great feeling. Makes you think that you are really cookin’ something. You can also use refrigerated crescent dough.

Hot Dogs ‘n’ Blankets…. Makes 8

Step #1 Heat oven to 425° Put parchment paper on a baking sheet.

Step #2 Stir 1 + 3/4 cups of Bisquick, 1 /3 cup milk, and 1 tablespoon yellow mustard. Keep mixing until dough forms a soft ball.

Step#3 Place the ball of dough on a flour sprinkled surface. Knead 10 times

Step#4 Roll or pat the dough into a 13-inch circle; cut into 8 wedges.

Step#5 Use 2 slices of cheese and cut each slice into four strips. This will give you 8 strips.

Step#6 Put 1 teaspoon pickle relish and one cheese strip on each wedge of dough. Place the hot dog on the wide part of the dough wedge and roll up beginning at the wide part.

Step #7 Place the hot dogs in their blankets on the baking sheet with the tips underneath.

Step #8 Bake for about 12 minutes or until golden brown

Did you know that people in the United Kingdom eat

Baked beans on toast? Baked beans are always served

with a ‘full English breakfast.’

Celery With Attitude…. Celery is grown above the grown.

Keep it in the refrigerator until use. Cut off the bottom

root end, then separate the ribs and wash them well. Dry

the ribs with a paper towel and eat them plain or fill with

one of these yummy choices.

  • Peanut Butter-dip them into crisp cereal like fruity Pebbles (Pebbles on a log)
  • Cream Cheese-add chopped nuts, or grated cheese
  • Guacamole-add black beans (Beans on a Stalk)
  • Hummus-add goldfish crackers (Fish in a Stream)
  • Mix a little jelly with cream cheese-add dried cranberries (Ladybugs on a log)
  • Peanut Butter-add a few raisins (Ants on a log)

How to crisp celery…

If the celery is limp, put it in a bowl of

water for an hour. The crispness will return. To store celery

wrap tightly in foil and store in coldest part of the refrigerator.
