What is a Salad?

Sometimes salads are fresh garden greens with many vegetables.

Sometimes they are main dishes-like chef salads. They usually contain protein like chicken or shrimp.

Picnic salads are potato salad, macaroni salad, pasta salad.

Salads are also “arranged.” The ingredients aren’t tossed. They are carefully placed on a plate to create art. Something like a bed of fresh salad greens, topped with a peach half and a scoop of cottage cheese.

Here are the rules

  1. Salads must be served cold
  2. Salads are good with crisp vegetables (not soggy)
  3. Serve a variety of colors and shapes
  4. Never serve a watery salad-shake out the water before

Here is the beginning of a list of tasty things for salads Iceberg, romaine lettuce

Fresh spinach, mixed greens Grape tomatoes
