Kristian
While working through Greater Expectations, Kristian also completed an apprenticeship at the Kansas Humane Society. His favorite part of working at KHS was interacting with the dogs, especially the large, active ones! Kristian found the friendly environment provided great interaction with co-workers and customers, which made it a fun working environment! After graduating from our program, Kristian has found meaningful employment working at Dillons as a customer clerk.
He views this as a starter job and plans to continue to build experience and his resume for future opportunities. Kristian’s future is full of endless possibilities – and he’s ready to explore them! “I’m so proud of Kristian. He matured so much this past year. I love his personality – he is very ‘punny’ with all the puns he comes up with.
I think the most important thing that Kristian learned is to advocate for himself. It takes a lot of self-awareness and courage to disclose your disability and ask for accommodations in the workplace, but he has done just that. I will really miss our time together, but I know that he is ready to start ‘adulting’ and will do amazing things.” – Greater Expectations Program Director, Beth Orth
