Need answers? We’re a good place to start

One of ILRC’s most important services is our Information and Assistance program. We provide information about disability issues, and assistance in connecting with programs and services that can make life better. Anyone may use our Information and Assistance program, including callers from outside the state of Kansas. There is no cost to use this service.

Our Information and Assistance program is staffed by ILRC’s Independent Living Services team. These staff members are knowledgeable about the kinds of barriers people with disabilities face, and can recommend programs and services to help overcome those barriers. We’ll work to connect you with the resources you’re looking for and offer as many options as possible.

Flex Funding for Dental Services

The Independent Living Resource Center maintains Sedgwick County Department of Aging Mill Levy funding for individuals with physical disabilities. We provide limited funding for dental services. Applicants must meet several qualifications including verification of residency within Sedgwick County, proof of total household income, and verification of having a physical disability. Each individual requesting funding must submit an application obtained from ILRC.  Funds are made available at the start of each year and go quickly. If you have a physical disability and have a need that you cannot get funded for through Medicaid or another agency, call ILRC and talk directly with a Consumer Advocate.  Other restrictions may apply and funding is limited.

We offer choices

ILRC offers many programs and services for people with disabilities within our own agency. Additional options are offered by other social services agencies and service providers, with whom we work closely. Among the most frequent calls we receive are those concerning:

  • Information and assistance
  • Peer support
  • Advocacy
  • Independent living skills training
  • Transition

We deal with a wide range of other issues facing people with disabilities as well. If we don’t have the answer to your question, we’ll work with you until we find a solution that works for you.
